Scarlet Knights Dominate TCNJ Open

EWING, N.J. (Nov. 25, 2014) - The Rutgers wrestling team put together another dominant open tournament on Saturday, Nov. 22, sending five champions and nine additional placewinners to the podium at the TCNJ Open.
FULL RESULTS Redshirt sophomore 125-pounder Sean McCabe (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.), junior 149-pounder Ken Theobold (Toms River, N.J.), redshirt junior 165-pounder Ethan Orr (Branchville, N.J.), redshirt sophomore 174-pounder Phil Bakuckas (Hammonton, N.J.) and junior 184-pounder Hayden Hrymack (Point Pleasant, N.J.) all won in their respective weight classes, bumping RU's open champion total to eight on the year.
Finishing as runner-up at the event was redshirt freshman 125-pounder Josh Patrick (Rector, Pa.), redshirt sophomore 133-pounder Jalen Ramos (Bayville, N.J.), sophomore 141-pounder Tyson Dippery (Harrisburg, Pa.), redshirt sophomore 149-pounder Tyler Hunt (South Plainfield, N.J.), redshirt sophomore 184-pounder Anthony Pafumi (Westfield, N.J.) and freshman 285-pounder Wesley Bernard (Indianapolis, Ind.).
Redshirt freshman 157-pounder Dylan Painton (South Plainfield, N.J.), sophomore 184-pounder Anthony Messner (Somerset, N.J.) and freshman 197-pounder Ralph Normandia (Somerset, N.J.) all finished third.
Also competing for RU on the day was redshirt freshman 149-pounder Michael Underwood (Cary, Ill.), freshman 149-pounder John Van Brill (Mullica Hill, N.J.), redshirt sophomore 165-pounder Mikey Simmons (Middletown, Pa.), freshman 184-pounder Lucky Shaut (Columbus, Ohio) and redshirt freshman 184-pounder Taylor Jackson (Lady Lake, Fla.).
As a team the Scarlet Knights return to the mat on Saturday, Nov. 29 at the Asics/Journeymen Northeast Duals in Troy, N.Y. RU (4-0, 0-0 Big Ten) will compete against Buffalo (11:30 a.m.), No. 21 Oklahoma (2:35 p.m.) and West Virginia (4:30 p.m.).
