Carroo, Lumpkin and Muller Earn Big Ten Honors
Dec 01 | Football
CHICAGO - Senior Leonte Carroo (Edison, N.J.), fifth-year senior Keith Lumpkin (Montclair, N.J.) and junior Chris Muller (Perkiomenville, Pa.) all picked up offensive postseason honors from the Big Ten, the league announced on Big Ten Network Tuesday.
Carroo was selected Third Team All-Big Ten by the media and honorable mention by the coaches, while Lumpkin was an honorable mention pick by both the media and coaches. Muller collected an honorable mention nod in the media vote.
The announcement comes one day after fifth-year senior Quentin Gause (Rochester, N.Y.), junior Janarion Grant (Trilby, Fla.) and junior Steve Longa (Saddle Brook, N.J.) earned conference special teams/defensive accolades. Click here to read Monday's release.
Finishing his time at Rutgers as one of the top wide receivers in school history, Carroo recorded 10 touchdowns in eight games (first in the Big Ten and 14th nationally) to bring his career total to a program-record 29. He finished the year with a career-best 183 receiving yards versus Maryland for a career total of 2,373, third-most in the school record books. In addition, Carroo logged a team-high 39 receptions in 2015 with an average of 20.7 yards per catch. It is his second consecutive season earning All-Big Ten recognition, becoming the first Scarlet Knight player to do so.
A three-year starter, Lumpkin wraps up his career starting the last 38 games at left tackle for the Scarlet Knights. Muller also has played in all 38 games since the start of 2013, with 11 starts at right guard and one at center in 2015. Both were part of an offensive line that paved the way for three 500-yard rushers, including four games over 200 yards on the ground. No sacks were permitted in the final two games of the regular season. It is the first time since 2011 that Rutgers has two offensive linemen named in the postseason conference honors.
