Rutgers Head Coach Chris Ash
Opening Statement: "My hat is off to Ohio State. That's an outstanding football team and they played well today. Ran the ball well, threw the ball well, and played outstanding defense. We struggled to move the ball on offense and get first downs when we needed them, and obviously struggled to stop the run on defense. Especially in the second quarter, the wheels kind of fell off in the second quarter, and it was tough to get them stopped. We'll just keep grinding, keep getting better, and keep practicing the way we have been every single day.
On Greg Jones: "Greg is fine. He was on the sideline. We just have to monitor him when we get back, but he was on the sideline and walking around."
On the fumble in the first quarter: "It wasn't just that play, we couldn't stop anything. We had a decent opening script and we were moving the ball a little bit. Obviously that was a momentum stopper on that particular drive. That didn't dictate the outcome of the football game."
On Tylin Oden playing quarterback in the second half: "We wanted to get Tylin reps. We wanted to get him reps in this game to begin with. We weren't doing much on offense, so we wanted to put Tylin in there and see what he could do, and get him some game reps."
On Ohio State: "I thought they were really good to begin with. It's hard to say they were better than I thought. Those guys are really good players. They played exceptionally well today."
On Ohio State's playmakers: "They've got a go to guy. Curtis Samuel is a go-to guy. Noah Brown is a go-to guy. So that makes it tougher. They've got a whole bunch of them, six, seven, eight guys."
On the first game playing without Janarion Grant: "Well Janarion is a good player, but a lot of it is what they did defensively too. They smothered us, they pressed us whenever they could. We struggled to get open, and that's been a problem for us against teams that press us. We have to work on that, we have to find solutions to get that done. Whenever they wanted to press us, they could, but the bigger issue was protection. We have to protect the quarterback better. They're rushing four guys and they are in our face -- that's a problem too."
Rutgers Defensive Back Anthony Cioffi
On the first quarter interception: "I saw his man. I was in the deep zone and saw his man running while he was trailing. So I went to go help and he got a great tip on the ball, made a great play and came up with the interception."
