With the loss, the Scarlet Knights finished the season at 2-10 with a 0-9 mark in the league.
Sophomore Giovanni Rescigno went 22-for-39 with 203 passing yards in his fifth career start, while senior Andre Patton led the team with 69 receiving yards. Goodwin picked up a game-high 181 all-purpose yards with 86 rushing. Martin added 73 yards on the ground.
Defensively, sophomore Brandon Russell made his first career start and totaled 12 tackles. The unit picked up nine stops for a loss with four sacks.
The Terrapins (6-6, 3-6) took the lead with a pair of first-quarter touchdowns, one on the ground and the other on a punt return. The Scarlet Knights chipped into the deficit with a 15-play drive in the second quarter that Martin capped with a one-yard plunge for his 15th career touchdown.
Maryland upped its advantage to 21-7 going into the break, but Rutgers scored first in the second half. Goodwin found the end zone on a 28-yard burst up the middle that was highlighted by a spin move to evade a tackle. However, the hosts tacked on 10 points in the final 18 minutes of the game.
