Women’s Soccer Ranked No. 23 in the Nation

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's soccer is ranked No. 23 in the nation in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll, released Tuesday. RU holds an overall record of 9-2-5 and a Big Ten mark of 5-1-3 this season.
The Scarlet Knights opened Big Ten play unbeaten in eight straight games (5-0-3), marking the best start in program history since 2006 when RU started BIG EAST play with six unbeaten matches (5-0-1).
With its double overtime draw at Wisconsin, Rutgers set a new program record with 10 overtime contests in a single season. The team holds a record of 5-0-5 in those extra time matches. The NCAA record for overtimes in a single season is 11.
RU suffered its first road loss and first conference loss of the season in a battle for the first place in the Big Ten at Penn State. Overall, RU holds a record of 3-1-2 on the road, including a 2-1-2 in conference play.
Sophomore forward Amirah Ali leads the Big Ten with 10 total goals this season, including five goals in conference action to rank second in the league. Junior midfielder Nicole Whitley is tied for the conference lead with seven assists. Freshman goalkeeper Meagan McClelland is second in the league with seven total shutouts on the year.
Additionally, Rutgers is in tie for second place in the Big Ten standings, while sitting at No. 27 in the NCAA RPI Rankings.
RU wraps up the regular season with a road trip to Michigan State on Thursday and a home match with Purdue on Sunday.
