Swimming & Diving Dominates Home Opener

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Nov. 16, 2018)– In their first home meet of the season, Rutgers swimming and diving topped Brown and Wagner in a tri-meet with 11 event wins on Friday night at the Rutgers Aquatic Center.

The Scarlet Knights will be back in action when they host the Rutgers Invitational Nov. 28 through Dec. 1 at the Rutgers Aquatic Center.

- Senior diver, Marin Bloise, finished her 3-meter diving with a score of 301.55, putting her 28.65 points ahead of her closest competition.
- The 1000 free had senior Francesca Bertotto clock in her fastest time this season in the event with a time of 10:03.63. Bertotto also took first in the 500 free, swimming a whole 7 seconds faster than her opponent.
- Kicking off the 100-yard back was freshman Terka Grusova, who clocked a 56.05.
- Junior Federica Greco finished her 100 butterfly in a flat 55 seconds.
- Senior Francesca Stoppa out touched fellow Scarlet Knight Greco by one second in the 200 butterfly.
- In her fastest 50-yard free this season, junior Clare Lawlor finished the race in just 23.81 seconds.
- In the 200-yard medley relay, Rutgers' team 'A', consisting of Grusova, sophomore Delaney Carey, Greco, and Lawlor out swam the Brown relay team by a half second to take first place.
- Senior Vera Koprivova swam the 200 back for the second time this season, and had the first touch of the race at 2:01.47.
- In the 1 meter diving, freshman Megan Demeo edged out teammate sophomore Lauren Boone by just over half of a point scoring a 251.25.
- During the 200-yard medley relay, Rutgers' relay 'B' finished top three with a time of 1:46.78 with the help of freshman Simone Lusby, freshman Nora Woods, Stoppa, and freshman Kasja Dymek.
- Lusby came in a close second behind teammate Grusova in the 100-yard back, finishing 1.31 seconds behind her and 0.63 ahead of the third-place finisher.
- In the 100 free, Carey, Woods, and Bertotto finished within the same second to claim third, fourth, and fifth places.
- Woods was able to jump ahead of her competition in the 200-yard breast to claim second-place.
- Three Scarlet Knights dropped time in two different events for a new season best. Bertotto dropped 1.13 seconds while swimming the 1000 free, Fabugais-Inaba dropped 0.15 in the 200 free, and Greco took 1.28 in her 200 IM.
- In her best finish of the season, freshman Jenna Douglass scored a 249.80 in 1 meter diving.
