Scarlet Knights compete Saturday, Sunday in Scottsdale

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – It is a quick turnaround for Rutgers men's golf, as it competes in the 2019 Desert Mountain Intercollegiate from March 9-10 in Scottsdale, Arizona. The 54-hole event, hosted by Michigan, will take place on the par-72, 7,107-yard Outlaw Course at the Desert Mountain Golf Club.

Last Time Out
Battling cold and raining conditions in the final round, Rutgers men's golf tied for seventh with an 881 (296-288-297) total at the Colleton River Collegiate, played on the Pete Dye Course in Bluffton, South Carolina from March 4-5. Sophomore Christopher Gotterup paced the Scarlet Knights, carding a 218 (74-70-74) to finish tied for 15th in the 84-player field.

Gotterup finished the tournament with a team-high 10 birdies - including six in the second round on Monday - and was tied for fifth in the entire field in par five scoring with a 4.67 average. The CBA product was also plus two in par four scoring with a 4.07 average.

Junior Tony Jiang moved up four positions during the final round to tie for 20th with a 219 (73-73-73), the seventh top-20 finish of his career. The third-round performance was the best for a Scarlet Knight during Tuesday action, as Jiang led the program in par three scoring with a 3.08 average.
