GREENSBORO, Ga. – Sophomore Maeve Rossi and junior Eun Won Park both carded 78 in the second round of the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational, played Saturday with temperatures in the mid-50's and little to no wind on the Landing Course.
"I played better off the tee today and hit my driver with more consistency," said Park. "I wasn't able to get my putter going today but with the greens rolling well, I'll focus on getting my ball started online and making smoother strokes tomorrow."
Rossi is tied for 31st with a 155 (77-78) and Park is tied for 46th with a 159 (81-78) on the par 72, 6,134-yard course. Freshman Leigha Devine is tied for 51st with a 160 (81-79) in the 79-player field. Rossi and Park both have 24 pars, while Devine has 22.
The trio is among a 15-team field that features host Mercer, No. 22 Auburn, Albany, Chattanooga, Daytona State, Delaware, East Carolina, East Tennessee State, North Florida, South Alabama, South Dakota State, UNC Ashville, UNC Wilmington, and Wofford.
Denoted as one of America's Top Courses by Zagat and among the Best Courses You Can Play in Georgia by Golf Magazine, the Landing Course is the original course of Lake Oconee. It features a variety of holes that wind through naturally wooded areas and rolling hills. Originally opened in 1986 as Port Armor Golf Club, the Landing ranked as one of Georgia's best golf courses at its debut, second only to Augusta National.
The third and final round of the 54-hole Invitational continues Sunday via a 10 a.m. shotgun start. Live scoring is available via birdiefire.com.
