GREENSBORO, Ga. – Sophomore Maeve Rossi carded a 73 in the final round of the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational, played Sunday under sunny skies with temperatures in the mid-50's and light winds on the Landing Course.
"My putting was much better today, and I felt confident over my birdie opportunities," said Rossi. "I continued to give myself chances and was able to convert a few of them. It was good to end the tournament on a high note. I have some specific areas of my game to work on before we travel to Northern California."
Rossi finished tied for 32nd in the 79-payer field with a 228 (77-78-73). The 73 effort over the final 18 holes was her third-lowest round of the 2019-20 season, following a 71 and 72 in the fall.
Freshman Leigha Devine tied for 53rd with a 239 (81-79-79) and junior Eun Won Park tied for 58th with a 241 (81-78-82) on the par 72, 6,134-yard course.
The trio competed among a 15-team field that features host Mercer, No. 22 Auburn, Albany, Chattanooga, Daytona State, Delaware, East Carolina, East Tennessee State, North Florida, South Alabama, South Dakota State, UNC Ashville, UNC Wilmington, and Wofford. Auburn won the event by 26 strokes with an eight-under 856 (293-284-279).
The Scarlet Knights, under the leadership of head coach Kari Williams, returns to the links at the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational in Fairfax, Calif. March 9-10.
