Mar 09 | Women's Golf
FAIRFAX, Calif. – Women's golf is 11th with a 602 (299-303) total after the opening two rounds of the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational, played on Monday. Sophomore Maeve Rossi paced the Scarlet Knights on day one, shooting a 147 (72-75) to enter Tuesday's final round 11th in the 72-player field.
"I started out putting well this morning and felt confident over my shorter putts," said Rossi. "My game was steady throughout the first round. I had to work a little more to save some pars in the afternoon. Tomorrow will be a good chance to put together a good round from start to finish."
Monday began with temperatures in mid-40's with little to no wind and warmed into the mid-50's. The second round was contested under sunny skies with temperatures warming into the 60's with winds at seven miles-per-hour.
Rossi was minus two on par five holes with 26 pars and four birdies on the par 72, 6,157-yard course.
Senior Carrie-Ann Lee (75-76) and freshman Anna-Maria Diederichs (73-78) joined Rossi in the top half of the field, tied for 32nd with 151 totals. Diederichs leads the tournament in both par three scoring (-3) and birdies (9), while Lee in minus one on par fives.
Senior Ana Cortes (81-74) and junior Eun Won Park (79-78) are tied for 54th and 58th, respectively, with 155 and 157 totals.
Washington State is first in the 13-team event with a 582 (293-289), one stroke ahead of second place California. The Scarlet Knights are one stroke back of 10th place Minnesota and ahead of both Colorado State and Gonzaga.
Tuesday's final round will begin at 8:30 a.m. local time. Live scoring is available via Golfstat.
