Aussie now holds program record for career punting yards
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers football punter Adam Korsak claimed a spot on the Ray Guy Award's Ray's 8 weekly list for the fourth time in 2021. The Scarlet Knights continue to lead the nation with a net punt of 46.5 yards per attempt.
Most recently at Northwestern, Korsak averaged 44.8 yards on nine attempts with a net of 44.4. The Aussie downed four inside the 20 and two inside the 10, including settling a kick out-of-bounds at the 2-yard line. The punt coverage unit held the Wildcats to three punt return yards.
Korsak became the program's all-time leader in punting yards with 10,433, passing Mike Barr, who had 10,096 from 1998-2002. Of Korsak's 238 career punts, only five (2.1 percent) have resulted in touchbacks.
Korsak has pinned 20-of-36 punts inside the 20 this year, booting 13 at least 50 yards. His current average of 47.6 yards per kick is on pace to break the single-season school record of 44.4 yards set by Ryan Anderson in 2017. The net punt mark is also pacing to reestablish the program standard for the fourth-straight year with Korsak as punter, calculating to 42.2 last year.
Korsak, a team captain, is a four-time member of the Ray Guy Award watch list and three-time winner of the Ray Guy Award Punter of the Week in 2021.
