Isaih Pacheco and long snapper
Billy Taylor will represent Rutgers football at the East-West Shrine Bowl on Feb. 3, while Pacheco will also take part in the Hula Bowl on Jan. 15. Wide receiver
Bo Melton previously accepted an invitation to the
Reese's Senior Bowl for Feb. 5.
The East-West Shrine Bowl will be played at Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders, and be televised on NFL Network. The event is the longest running college all-star football game in the nation and benefits Shriners Hospitals for Children. Twenty Scarlet Knights have previously participated, including Franks Burns (1949),
Marco Battaglia (1996), Jeremy Zuttah (2007), Courtney Greene (2009), Desmond Wynn (2012),
Scott Vallone (2013), Keith Lumpkin (2016), Saquan Hampton (2019) and Brendan White (2021).
The Hula Bowl moved to UCF's Bounce House for 2022 due to construction taking place on Aloha Stadium in Hawaii. Watch on CBS Sports Network. A top all-star game, it dates back to 1960 with four prior Rutgers representatives: "JJ" Jennings (1974), Tyronne Stowe (1987), Bryan Fortay (1994) and Shaun O'Hara (1999).
ISAIH PACHECO
Starting all 12 games, Pacheco led the Scarlet Knights with 647 rushing yards on 167 carries with five touchdowns in 2021. The Vineland, New Jersey, native posted a season-best 107 yards on the ground at Michigan, recording multiple-score games versus Indiana and Delaware. Earning a spot on the Academic All-Big Ten list this past year, he finishes his RU career with 2,442 career rushing yards to rank seventh in program history, with his 563 carries sixth. In addition, he is ranked 11
th in the school record book with 3,039 career all-purpose yards. Pacheco was voted a 2021 team captain and selected honorable mention All-Big Ten by coaches and media.
BILLY TAYLOR
Taylor took over the starting long snapper position as a true freshman and served in the role for a school-record 57 consecutive games. Joining the program during training camp in 2017, he was a nominee for the Burlsworth Trophy, which is given to the most outstanding football player who began as a walk-on and has shown outstanding performance on the field. Taylor also earned a spot on the Patrick Mannelly Award watch list as one of the top long snappers nationally. The Parsippany, New Jersey, native was a semifinalist for the 2020 William V. Campbell Trophy, helped Rutgers set a school record for net punt in each of the last four years and is a four-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and a three-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar.
