Five Scarlet Knights Recognized by Phil Steele

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Led by P Adam Korsak earning All-America honors, five from Rutgers football were recognized in the Phil Steele conference and national teams released this week.

Third Team All-America: P Adam Korsak
Third Team All-Big Ten: KR Aron Cruickshank, P Adam Korsak, DL Aaron Lewis
Fourth Team All-Big Ten: DB Max Melton, LS Ed Rogowski

ADAM KORSAK
The winner of the Ray Guy Award as the nation's best punter, Korsak led the country with 32 punts downed inside the 20 and -11 return yards against, ranking third in net punt average (43.57). He is the NCAA all-time leader in punting attempts (349) and yardage (15,318), a three-time captain for the Scarlet Knights and tied for the program record with 58 games played. Korsak was selected Second Team All-Big Ten in the coaches' vote. In addition, the Aussie was previously named First Team All-America by The Sporting News.

ARON CRUICKSHANK
Often kicked away from by opponents, Cruickshank averaged 20.6 yards on 18 kickoff returns in 2022. He ripped off a season-long 66-yard return to help set up a touchdown versus Penn State. The New York native claimed a spot as honorable mention All-Big Ten and finished his career with 4,042 all-purpose yards. That included 1,357 kickoff return yards the past three seasons to rank sixth in Rutgers history.

AARON LEWIS
Lewis emerged on the defensive line with 55 tackles with eight for loss in 2022. He posted a career high with 11 tackles, two in the backfield, and a forced fumble in the road win over Temple, adding sacks versus Nebraska and Penn State. The performance earned Third Team All-Big Ten in the coaches' vote.

MAX MELTON
Melton, who previously collected honorable mention All-Big Ten, contributed on both defense and special teams, posting 10 pass breakups, two interceptions, 33 tackles and a nation-leading three blocked punts. The blocked punt versus Michigan led to a touchdown. He also recovered a fumble on punt coverage in playing all 12 games.

ED ROGOWSKI
In his first season with the Scarlet Knights, Rogowski served as the primary long snapper for punts, field goals and extra points in all 12 games. He started a punting unit that had the Ray Guy Award winner in holding opponents to -11 return punt yards, best in the nation. The place-kicking group connected on 12 field goals throughout the season.
