No. 18 Wrestling Closes Long Road Swing at RV Indiana, No. 7 Ohio State

PISCATWAY, N.J. – No. 18 Rutgers wrestling (8-1, 0-0) finishes its two-month road swing and opens Big Ten Conference action with matches at RV Indiana (5-1, 1-1) on Friday in Bloomington and at No. 7 Ohio State (7-1, 1-0) on Sunday in Columbus. Friday's dual with the Hoosiers is set for a 7 p.m. start on Big Ten Plus. Sunday's dual against the Buckeyes will also stream on Big Ten Plus at 1 p.m.
Since their season-opening win over Clarion on Nov. 11, 2022, at the College Ave. Gym, the Scarlet Knights have wrestled eight duals and two tournaments away from Piscataway. When RU hosts Michigan State on Friday, Jan. 20 at Jersey Mike's Arena, it will compete on campus for the first time in 70 days.
Rutgers defeated Bloomsburg (45-0) and Rider (26-9) this past weekend in its last time out. The Scarlet Knights won 18 of their 20 matchups across their two road duals, which included their ninth consecutive dual victory against its in-state rival, Rider.

- The Scarlet Knights' Sunday matchup with No. 7 Ohio State begins a seven-match swing against ranked opponents to close the dual season. RU is set to face three top-10 opponents in that span - No. 7 OSU, No. 1 Penn State and No. 3 Michigan.
- Rutgers has six ranked wrestlers in this weekend's projected lineup, led by No. 13 Dean Peterson (125), No. 14 Joe Heilmann (133) and No. 14 Brian Soldano (184). The trio is a combined 21-2 in duals this season.

RU won eight out of 10 bouts against the Hoosiers in their last meeting, including wins from current wrestlers Dylan Shawver (125), Robert Kanniard (157), Andrew Clark (165), Jackson Turley (174) and John Poznanski (184).
- Five of the past seven meetings with Indiana have come in Big Ten action. IU's lone win in the series came on Nov. 29, 2008 as the Hoosier Duals in Bloomington.

- Sunday will be the 10th meeting all time with Ohio State. The Buckeyes lead the all-time series with Rutgers, 8-0-1. OSU has won eight consecutive meetings after the schools tied, 24-24, in their first-ever meeting on Feb. 11, 1984.
- RU nearly defeated Ohio State for the first time in program history last season but lost 19-14 at Jersey Mike's Arena. The Scarlet Knights won four of their first six bouts – including bonus-point victories from No. 3 Sebastian Rivera (141) and No. 18 Joseph Olivieri (133) – but were unable to hold off the Buckeyes in Piscataway.
