Six Named to NFF Hampshire Honor Society

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – DB Christian Braswell, OL J.D. DiRenzo, OL Curtis Dunlap Jr., P Adam Korsak, LS Ed Rogowski and QB Noah Vedral all represent Rutgers football on the National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society list released this month. The Scarlet Knights have had multiple honorees in 10 of the past 14 years and at least one student-athlete named in each of the last 16 years.
The list is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers, saw action as a starter or significant contributor on the field and competed in their final year of eligibility in 2022 or graduated being at least three years out of high school.

CHRISTIAN BRASWELL
Returning after missing the 2021 season due to injury, Braswell ranked third in the Big Ten with 1.17 passes defended per game. That included team highs with 11 pass breakups and three interceptions. He contributed a pick-six to help seal the victory over Indiana, a career-high four pass breakups at Maryland and was voted honorable mention All-Big Ten. The Washington, D.C., native competed in the Hula Bowl.

J.D. DIRENZO
DiRenzo started all 12 games for the Scarlet Knights in his lone season with the program, including nine at left guard and three at left tackle. He helped RU rush for 212 yards in the season-opening win at Boston College that saw the offense put together a go-ahead, 96-yard drive all on the ground. Then versus Indiana, the unit allowed no sacks and held the ball for 38:53 in the victory. DiRenzo moved to left tackle at Michigan State as the offense totaled 460 yards, most against a Big Ten opponent in regulation since 2015, with RB Kyle Monangai setting a program record for rushing yards (162) in a Big Ten game. He earned MVP – Offense at the team banquet and participated in in the Hula Bowl.

CURTIS DUNLAP JR.
Dunlap started all 12 games at right guard in his first season with the Scarlet Knights. That included helping the offense rush for 212 yards in the win over Boston College and hold the ball for 38:53 to beat Indiana with no sacks allowed. The Jacksonville, Florida, native is currently participating in spring practice in preparation for the 2023 season.

ADAM KORSAK
The winner of the Ray Guy Award as the nation's best punter, Korsak led the country with 32 punts downed inside the 20 and minus 11 return yards against, ranking third in net punt average (43.57). He is the NCAA all-time leader in punting attempts (349) and yardage (15,318), a three-time captain for the Scarlet Knights and tied for the program record with 58 games played. Korsak, who earned an invitation to the Senior Bowl, was selected Second Team All-Big Ten in the coaches' vote. In addition, the Aussie was previously named First Team All-America by The Sporting News.

ED ROGOWSKI
In his first season with the Scarlet Knights, Rogowski served as the primary long snapper for punts, field goals and extra points in all 12 games. He started a punting unit that had the Ray Guy Award winner in holding opponents to minus 11 return punt yards, best in the nation. The place-kicking group connected on 12 field goals throughout the season.

NOAH VEDRAL
A two-time captain for the Scarlet Knights, Vedral ranks seventh in program history in both completions (337) and total offense (3,876), being 12th in passing yards (3,340). He repeated as a Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner, also being selected to the AFCA Good Works Team for exemplary community service, academic dedication and impact on and off the field. The quarterback is also a three-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and won the 2022 Paul Robeson Award, which is bestowed to the individual whose performance, leadership and dedication on and off the field had the greatest impact on Rutgers football.
