Track and Field Runs Three Events at Mason Spring Invitational

FAIRFAX, Va. — Rutgers track and field earned four top-five finishes at the Ebanks Invitational, hosted by George Mason University, on Saturday, April 8 in Fairfax, Virginia.
The Scarlet Knights were led by Ray Sellaro, who ran a time of 3:47.92 to win the 1500-meter. William Hare was not far behind, claiming second place in the event with a time of 3:48.90 for his second second-place finish of the spring. The duo earned RU's two-best finishes of the day.
In the 800-meter Gavin Richards and Justin Cornetta earned fourth and fifth place, respectively. Richards finished with a time of 1:52.32 and Cornetta ran a 1:52.40, earning his best finish this spring.
In the 5000-meter, freshman Liam Tilton finished in 10th place with a time of 14:29.60 for his career-best outdoor finish.
Sofia Condron led the way for the women's squad with an eighth-place finish in the 1500-meter. The freshman ran a time of 4:36.20 in her first race of the outdoor season.
Junior Shelby Whetstone finished 10th overall in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:14.36.
Rutgers is set to split its squad this weekend, sending competitors to the Tom Jones Memorial in Gainesville, Fla., and the Larry Ellis Invitational in Princeton, N.J., on April 14-15.
