PISCATAWAY, N.J – Rutgers goalkeeper Cardin Stoller was named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List on Tuesday, it was announced by the Tewaaraton Foundation. The initial Watch List for the 2026 season features 50 men's players highlighted in the running for the National Player of the Year award for lacrosse. Stoller is one of five goalkeepers on the Watch List.
The Owing Mills, Md. native was named a Preseason All-American (Third Team), was a Big Ten Preseason Player to Watch and was on the Inside Lacrosse Top 50 Players in the Nation preseason list. Through two games he has made 25 saves, recording a save percentage of 54.3% and goals-against-average of 10.63.
Stoller was an All-American, First Team All-Big Ten, All-ECAC and the ECAC Defensive Player of the Year last season. He finished seventh in the nation in goals-against-average, 12th in save percentage and was third in the Big Ten in saves per game. The redshirt junior was also the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2024.
This is the second straight season that Stoller has been named to the Watch List. He was also recognized last season and made the cut to the top-25.
This is the 12th consecutive season that Rutgers has had at least one player on the Watch List. Adam Charalambides, Kieran Mullins, Ross Scott, Shane Knobloch and Jules Heningburg were all on the watch list multiple times, while Ethan Rall, Connor Kirst, Colin Kirst, Mitch Bartolo, Michael Rexrode, Scott Bieda and Joe Nardella have been recognized in that span. Also previously recognized were Will Mangan, Justin Pennington, Chris O'Dougherty and Greg Havalchak.
Players not named to this initial list will have opportunities to play their way into a spot as the season progresses. Watch List additions will be announced on March 5 and March 26, before the field will be narrowed to 25 men's and 25 women's nominees on April 16. Nominees can be players from the Watch Lists or not from the Watch Lists, effectively allowing for a third round of additions.
Five men's and five women's finalists will be announced in early May. The Tewaaraton Award recipients will be chosen after the conclusion of the collegiate lacrosse season. The Finalists will be honored and this year's recipients announced live on May 28 at the Tewaaraton Ceremony in Washington, D.C.
