O’Connor Nominated for 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers football LS Michael O'Connor is a nominee for the 2026 Allstate American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Good Works Team, the organization announced Monday. The honor recognizes college football players who lead through community service, academics and athletics.
O'Connor is a graduate student in the Rutgers Business School in the supply chain management program after earning his undergraduate degree in leadership and management. A four-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, he was part of the Scarlet Knights' nation-leading National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society contingent.
A native of Middletown, New Jersey, O'Connor has been a key contributor since arriving on campus to Chop4Change, Rutgers football's initiative to give back to the community. That includes participation in events such as Special Olympics New Jersey, Move the Spectrum, the winter coat drive and more.
Entering his sixth season in the program, O'Connor served as the primary long snapper for all 12 games last year. That included helping the team rank second in the Big Ten with a net punting average of 41.85 yards, while part of 13 successful field goals.
