Zharia Harris-Waddy Hits School Record .833 In Sweep Of Rider

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Zharia Harris-Waddy set a new school record in attack percentage, swinging at a .833 clip, as Rutgers Volleyball made it a sweep of Rider on Saturday night at Jersey Mike's Arena.
Rutgers won its fourth-straight in a 25-20, 25-18, 25-15 victory to improve to 7-2 overall.
Harris-Waddy got the point on 10 of her 12 attacks and committed no errors along the way. Her .833 attack percentage is tied for the third-best in a match in Division I, behind Ella Chapman of UCF against Davidson and Ava Stratton of Youngstown State against Mercyhurst. Both hit .857 with 12 kills on 14 attempts and no errors.
The Lawnside, New Jersey native bested the previous Rutgers mark of .700 (14-0-20) in a 3-0 win over Cleveland State on September 10, 2016.

- Zharia Harris-Waddy's record night saw her lead the offense with a match-high 10 kills, with Malia Romes and Karis Willow contributing eight kills.
- Lily Bolen recorded 22 assists and eight digs, while Brooke Baldwin added 16 helpers and four digs.
- Kenzie Dyrstad led RU at the service line with a trio of aces and a match-best 11 digs.
- On the block, Natalie Robinson made five stops. Her 13 total stops on the weekend not only moved her into the top ten in rally-era career blocks with 2018 to date, but her four solo rejections moved her into a tie for the top five in rally-era solo blocks with 30.

- SET 1 (25-20) | Karis Willow served up back-to-back aces to give RU the lead for good at 9-7. Rider closed the gap to trail 19-18, but the Scarlet Knights closed on a 6-2 run, including a pair of kills from Willow and Natalie Robinson. Willow and Robinson led RU with four kills each and Zharia Harris-Waddy was 3-for-3 on the attack, helping the squad to end the frame hitting .353.

- SET 2 (25-18) | Four different Scarlet Knights posted a trio of kills while Kenzie Dyrstad contributed a pair of aces in a set they never trailed. Rutgers opened with five-straight points, while Rider came back to even the set at 7-7. From there, RU firmly took control, outscoring their New Jersey counterparts 6-1 and allowing back-to-back points for the Broncs only twice the rest of the way.

- SET 3 (25-15) | Harris-Waddy accounted for six of RU's 15 kills, including match point, and hit .857 for the frame as the Scarlet Knights as a team hit a match-best .520. Rider started off with a 5-3 lead, but six straight from the Scarlet Knights put Rutgers in control. The Broncs managed back-to-back kills to narrow their deficit to 13-11, but that would be as close as they would get as RU closed on a 12-4 burst.
