James First, Women’s Golf Third After Opening Day of Princeton Invite

PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior Emily James leads the field to highlight action for Rutgers women's golf after the opening day of the Princeton Invitational, held Friday at Springdale Golf Course. With one round scheduled for Saturday, weather permitting, the Scarlet Knights sit third among 12 participating teams.
Battling heavy winds throughout the day, James is tied with Penn's Juliet Oh atop the leaderboard at 2-under-par 140 (72-68), highlighted by a 3-under 68 in her second round. With several second-round scores still not finalized due to darkness, Rutgers sits third at 22-over 590 (293-297). Host Princeton leads the field at 2-over 570 (282-288), while Penn holds second at 12-over with an incomplete scorecard.
Sophomore Elizabeth Ryu also contributed an under-par scorecard, firing off a one-under-par 70 in the opening round.

James fired a blistering 3-under-par 68 in the afternoon round, rolling in five birdies and nine pars. She was one of just two players in the field to break par in round two, vaulting her into a tie with Oh.
Junior Joline Truong wrapped up the second round tied for 19th after carding a 6-over-par 77. Senior Lorena Rossettin and junior Judy Amano each turned in 5-over 76s, with Amano carding two birdies down the stretch to leave the pair in 26th and 28th place, respectively.

Ryu posted an impressive opening round, carding a 1-under-par 70 to begin Friday's action. Ryu was one of only five golfers under par in round one, pacing her card with three birdies.
James also turned in a strong opener with a 1-over-par 72, while Truong added a 3-over 74 and Rossettin posted a 6-over 77.
