Joe Schiano

Joe Schiano is in his fourth season on the Scarlet Knights’ staff. The eldest son of Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano, he joined RU in 2020.
Schiano finished his playing career at Bucknell in 2019, seeing action in all 11 games with 25 tackles (17 solo), 3.5 tackles-for-loss, two sacks and two forced fumbles. In a win over Lehigh, the defensive lineman sealed the game with a strip sack on the final drive. He was a recipient of the Tom Gadd Coaches’ Award.
A history major, Schiano earned a spot on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll three times, became a member of the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society and garnered recognition on the Bucknell Dean’s List. Schiano was born in Chicago and played high school football at Berkeley Prep in Tampa, Florida.
