Apr 03 | Baseball
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Rutgers baseball dropped Friday's series opener at Indiana by a score of 11-0 in seven innings at Bart Kaufman Field.
The Scarlet Knights (15-14, 4-6) fell behind 6-0 after four innings to the Hoosiers (11-18, 4-9), and the hosts were able to add on late to earn the run-rule victory.
Peyton Bonds collected two hits for RU to increase his team-best average to .383, but offense was hard to come by for the Scarlet Knights outside of Bonds. On the mound, Zach Gleason contributed a scoreless inning of relief.
Indiana hit a two-run homer in the third, a three-run homer in the fourth and a two-run homer in the sixth to propel its offensive effort.
Rutgers will look to bounce back tomorrow against Indiana on Big Ten Plus.
