Kamali O’Brian is in his first season with Rutgers football as an assistant strength and conditioning coach in 2023. Prior to his arrival “On the Banks,” O’Brian spent the previous three years at Wagner (2020-23). O’Brian was promoted to associate athletic director for sports performance with the Seahawks in 2022 after two years as an assistant athletic director.

O’Brian arrived at Wagner after serving as an assistant strength and condition coach at Robert Morris from 2019-20, where he worked with the Colonials’ football, men’s golf and men’s and women’s lacrosse programs.

O’Brian spent 2018 at Baylor as an assistant athletic performance coach, working exclusively with the Bears’ football program, instructing return-to-play athletes.

O’Brian’s other work experiences at the collegiate level include stints at St. Joseph’s (2019), IUP (2016-18), Pittsburgh (2017) and Edinboro (2016). His certifications include NSCA CSCS Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, USAW Sport Performance Level I and FMS Functional Movement Screen Level I.

O’Brian graduated with a bachelor’s degree in human performance from Edinboro, where he lettered in lacrosse.
