Michael Shapley is in his second year as the Director of Equipment for Rutgers football. Shapley, who also worked with the Scarlet Knights from 2011-14, spent the previous three seasons at Connecticut, where he was the Football Equipment and Facilities Manager for the Huskies from 2017-19.

While in Storrs, Shapley supervised the day-to-day operations of the Burton Family Football Complex equipment room, which included oversite of UConn’s protective equipment and apparel. Shapley also worked directly with the Huskies’ director of football operations to coordinate all equipment and apparel needs for home and away games.

Prior to his tenure at UConn, Shapley worked as Assistant Equipment Manager with Towson Athletics from 2014-17. Shapley assisted with equipment needs for the Tigers’ football, men’s and women’s lacrosse, field hockey and women’s track and field programs.

Shapley’s first full-time stint “On the Banks” came from 2011-14 as an Assistant Equipment Manager with the football program. Shapley was responsible for the organization of equipment for staff and student-athletes for all games and practices.

A Rutgers alumnus, Shapley graduated from the University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science, in Exercise Science and Sport Studies. During his time as an undergraduate, Shapley served as a Student Manager with the football program.
