Pat Malone

Pat Malone joined the Rutgers women's swimming & diving staff as an assistant in July of 2024.
 
Malone arrives "On The Banks" after spending the last three seasons as an assistant coach at UMBC. During his time with the Retrievers, the men's program captured back-to-back America East Championships in 2022 and 2023 while both the men's and women's teams combined for 36 America East champions. UMBC was also recognized with the 2024 America East Women's Swimming Rookie of the Year and America East Men's Swimmer of the Meet.
 
Prior to his post at UMBC, Malone served as head coach at Manhattan College for three seasons. The Jaspers captured 11 top-16 finishes at the Metro Atlantic Conference Championships while being standouts in the classroom. Manhattan was named to the CSCAA Scholar America Team every season along with 13 Jaspers selected to the 2020 MAAC Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving All-Academic Teams.
 
Malone also spent three seasons at Long Island University including a stint as interim head coach. While at LIU, Malone oversaw 29 top-eight performances at the NEC Championships with the program ranking in the top five in team GPA among LIU Brooklyn's athletic squads.
 
A Washington Township, New Jersey native, Malone was a DIII Honorable Mention All-American at Rowan University earning NJAC First-Team All-Conference honors in the 200 fly as well as second-team distinction in the 200 fly, 200 and 400 medley relays during his career. In the classroom, Malone was a three-time Academic All-American and recognized as a Rowan Scholar-Athlete and a Philadelphia Inquirer Men's Swimming Academic All-Area honoree. He also was the recipient of the Richard Wacker Award for upperclassmen leadership as a team captain.
 
Malone earned his degree in geography with a concentration in geosciences from Rowan in 2014 and received a Master's in education in adolescence urban education – social studies from LIU in 2018.
