Patrick Spraggs

The 2025-26 season marks Patrict Spraggs second season On the Banks as Rutgers men's golf's Assistant Coach.
In February 2025, Rutgers University welcomed Spraggs to the Scarlet Knights men’s golf program as Assistant Coach under the leadership of Head Coach Rob Shutte. A native of Suffolk, England, Spraggs brings a distinguished background in golf, shaped by both international competition and extensive experience in the United States, to his new role in Piscataway.
“We are thrilled to welcome Patrick Spraggs to our program,” said Head Coach Rob Shutte. “Patrick brings a wealth of golf experience and a unique international perspective that will greatly benefit our student-athletes. His professional background as both a player and a coach, combined with his natural ability to connect with young athletes, makes him an invaluable addition to our coaching staff.”
Spraggs’ journey in golf began as a standout amateur in England. He was selected to represent Europe in the prestigious 2010 Palmer Cup and was a member of the England boys’ team at the Dutch Junior Masters in 2009. His academic and athletic career took him to the University of Stirling in Scotland, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sport Studies in 2013. During his collegiate years, he also spent a year competing for East Tennessee State University, further expanding his exposure to American collegiate golf.
With over 15 years of experience in the golf industry, Spraggs has cultivated a deep understanding of the game from multiple vantage points. His professional journey includes roles as Assistant Golf Professional at Stonham Barns Golf Centre and Woodbridge Golf Club in England. In the United States, he has served as a golf caddie at several prestigious clubs, including Kinsale Golf Club and The Old Collier Golf Club in Naples, Florida, as well as Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio.
Coach Shutte had been aware of Spraggs’ potential for several years and was impressed by the immediate rapport he established with the Rutgers team during the interview process, which included virtual meetings with student-athletes. His ability to connect with the team and his passion for player development were evident from the outset.
Spraggs and his wife, Nicole, reside in New Jersey with their two children, Karoline and Arthur. As he begins this new chapter with the Scarlet Knights, Spraggs is eager to contribute to the continued growth and success of the Rutgers men’s golf program.
