Susan Beurskens

The Associate Athletic Director for Marketing, Susan Beurskens begins her 25th season in the Rutgers Athletic Department.

Beurskens arrived “On The Banks” in 2001 as the Director of Promotions and served as the Senior Director, Director of Marketing and Special Events, and Assistant Athletic Director before being elevated to her current position in 2024.

In her current role as Associate Athletic Director, Beurskens oversees RU’s paid and trade advertising efforts for the athletic programs with Spitball Advertising, and works closely with SAMCO in the implementation of sponsorship elements, and spearheads the budget process for the Marketing, Game Presentation, and Fan Experience office. An integral part of the Scarlet Knights football and men’s and women’s basketball programs’ game day experience, she also serves as the administrator for the Rutgers Spirit Program, working closely with the coaching staff on day-to-day issues as well as long-term planning for the program. Beurskens also manages the Rutgers Athletics Hall of Fame and serves on the Committee for the Annual Athletic Awards.

Previously, Beurskens served as the point-of-contact for the Rutgers athletic bands, and produced, scheduled, and scripted in-game entertainment and presentations, as well as served as the department’s liaison for the Scarlet Knight Corporate Village at all home football games. She also organized the marketing efforts for RU’s football bowl game appearances, including on-site giveaways and events for the team, fans, and alumni.

During her tenure at Rutgers, Beurskens helped to create and administer the Rutgers Kids’ Zone, Spring Game Fan Fest, and Football Kickoff Celebration. She has also assisted with a number of on-campus and off-campus special events, including the 2004 and 2007 Men’s Basketball East Regional, 2002 & 2003 Women’s Basketball BIG EAST Tournament, and the 2001 &2002 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship.

Beurskens received a B.S. in Exercise Science & Sports Studies from Rutgers. She and her husband John live in Howell with their son Tommy.
