Frazier Earns Freshman All-America Honors from Collegiate Baseball

PISCATAWAY, NJ - Shortstop Todd Frazier (Toms River, NJ) followed in the footsteps of his older brother Jeff when he was recently named to the Louisville Slugger Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-America Team.
Frazier, who played primarily at shortstop this season, started all 53 games (one of two players to do so) for the Scarlet Knights. He hit .295 from the leadoff spot and led the team in runs (61), home runs (9), total bases (111) and steals (19). He also posted a .392 on-base percentage and set a single-season school record for home runs by a lead-off hitter, passing current Kansas City Royals OF David DeJesus, who hit eight in 2000. Frazier also made just seven errors in 11 starts at third base and 42 at shortstop. He hit safely in all but 12 games and reached base safely in 50 of 53 contests. He also had a 14-game hitting streak during the season which raised his average to .305 on April 23.
'Todd had a great year for us and did everything we asked of him,' said head coach Fred Hill, who led Rutgers to its eighth-straight 30-win season in 2005. 'He played a demanding defensive position and hit leadoff for us, but handled both things very well.'
Frazier represents the 11th All-America selection for Rutgers since 1996, including Jeff who earned Freshman honors in 2002 and five different All-America awards in 2004. He will spend his summer with the Chatham A's of the Cape Cod Baseball League.
