PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers University baseball program will hold a pair of baseball clinics for high school players, during the December and January months in preparation for the 2007 season.
The program will host its annual Winter Break Hitting Clinic, which will take place at the Louis Brown Athletic Center, Tuesday through Thursday, December 26-28 from 8:30 am - 11:30 am each day. Participants will work one-on-one with Rutgers coaches, including head coach Fred Hill and former All-Americans Glen Gardner and Darren Fenster, and have the opportunity to participate in live batting practice and drills. The cost of this camp is $225.
New in 2007, Rutgers has added the Gold Glove Infielders Clinic, which will take place on Saturday and Sunday, January 13-14 from 10am-1pm at the Rutgers Bubble, the University's expansive indoor practice facility, adjacent to Rutgers Stadium on the Busch Campus. Run by former All-American and professional infielder Darren Fenster, the clinic will focus on defensive drills, mechanics and footwork. Cost of this camp is $195.
Both camps are open to players currently at the high school level, grades 9-12, and will include individual instruction along with advice from the veteran coaching staff and current players at Rutgers, led by Head Coach Fred Hill. Hill, who is entering his 24th year at the helm of the Rutgers program, has seen 29 of his players move on to professional baseball since 1998.
For more information, or to register for camp, please call the Rutgers baseball office at 732-445-7834 or email baseball@scarletknights.com. Pre-registration is required and spots will be filled in the order in which they are received.
