Rutgers Women's Tennis Earns 5-2 Win Over Pittsburgh

PISCATAWAY, NJ - The Rutgers women’s tennis team ran its winning streak to four matches with a convincing 5-2 victory over Pittsburgh on Friday.
The Scarlet Knights improve to 10-5 overall and 5-2 in the BIG EAST thanks to string singles play, which saw four of six players pick up victories. Freshman Dana Gordon (Margate, NJ), senior Ketevan Shmakova (Dover, NJ) and Lauren Edelschein (Medford Lakes, NJ) all won is straight sets, and sophomore Katrina Elder-Bush topped it off with a three-set win at first singles, 4-6, 6-0, 7-5.
Rutgers was able to take the team doubles point as Shmakova and Elder-Bush defeated Emily Hughes and Annie Davies, 8-1. The point was clinched with Markowitz and Edelschein earned a hard-fought 9-7 win at third doubles.
Rutgers, which has won four of its last six matches, will look to extend their winning streak against St. John’s on Saturday, April 1, at 2:00 p.m.
