St. John's Upends Rutgers in Women's Tennis

PISCATAWAY, NJ – St. John’s won two doubles matches and three singles contests to post a 4-0 victory over Rutgers in women’s tennis action on Saturday afternoon.
The loss snapped Rutgers’ four-match winning streak, but the Scarlet Knights are still over .500 in BIG EAST play (5-3) and 10-6 overall.
The tighest singles match occurred at fourth singles as Jill Markowitz (Forest Hills, NY) fell to Lauren Lorenzetti, 6-4, 6-3. Matches at second, fifth and sixth singles did not finish. In doubles action, Alina Balasa (East Brunswick, NJ) and Dana Gordon (Margate, NJ) lost 8-6 while Markowitz and Lauren Edelschein (Medford Lakes, NJ) lost 8-4.
Rutgers will look to get back to its winning ways on Tuesday, April 4, when it hosts Villanova at 3:00 p.m.
