Rutgers Women's Tennis Tops Georgetown, 7-0

PISCATAWAY, NJ - The Rutgers women’s tennis team (12-6, 7-3 BIG EAST) continued its winning ways, defeating Georgetown, 7-0, on Saturday at the Inman Racquet Club in Edison, NJ for its sixth victory in the last seven matches.
The Scarlet Knights lost just one set in the six singles matches, as Dana Gordon (Margate, NJ) came back from dropping her first set against Courtney Olson to win 3-6, 6-2, 6-1. Katrina Elder-Bush (Boston, MA) was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at first singles and Alina Balasa (North Brunswick, NJ), Jill Markowitz (Forset Hills, NY), Lauren Edelschein (Medford Lakes, NJ) and Anela Dujsic (Mississauga, Ontario) all rolled to convincing victories.
In doubles play, Markowitz and Shmakova played the tightest match, winning 8-6 over Taylor Martin and Liz Winokur. Edelschein and Gordon won 8-6 while Balsa and Elder-Bush were victorious, 8-1.
“The team is playing with a lot of confidence right now,” said head coach Ben Bucca. “This is an important time of year for us, and we’re playing some of our best tennis when it matters the most."
Rutgers returns to action on Sunday, April 9, when it hosts West Virginia at 1:00 p.m.
