Rutgers to Host Winter Baseball Clinic

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The 2007 BIG EAST Champion Rutgers baseball program will hold its annual winter hitting clinic for high school players in late December.
The clinic will take place at the Louis Brown Athletic Center, Wednesday through Friday, December 26-28 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. each day to assist players in their preparation for the 2008 season.
Participants will work one-on-one with Rutgers coaches, including head coach Fred Hill and former All-Americans Glen Gardner and Darren Fenster, and have the opportunity to participate in live batting practice and more than 15 drills encompassing strategy and the mechanics of hitting.
The hitting clinic is open to players currently at the high school level, grades 9-12, and will include individual instruction along with advice from the veteran coaching staff and current players at Rutgers, led by Head Coach Fred Hill.
Hill, who embarks on his 25th year at the helm of the Rutgers program in 2008, has seen 34 of his players move on to professional baseball since 1998, including five Major League Baseball draftees from last season's BIG EAST Champion squad. The 2007 Scarlet Knights finished 36th in the nation in both batting average and home runs last season en route to a school-record tying 42 victories last spring.
Located inside the Louis Brown Athletic Center, on the University's Livingston Campus in Piscataway, each member of the camp will enjoy the Scarlet Knights' winter home which features three full-length batting cages complete with pitching machines, and several soft toss and tee stations.
