Rutgers Defeats Georgetown in BIG EAST Match-Up
Mar 24 | Women's Tennis
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Rutgers women's tennis team won a BIG EAST contest over Georgetown, 4-2, on Saturday. With the win, the Scarlet Knights move to 5-8 on the season, including a 2-3 mark in BIG EAST competition.
Weather forced the match to be moved indoors and due to having limited court space, the contest was decided based upon singles matches only.
"The girls really played hard and it was a good win," said head coach Ben Bucca. "We're hoping to carry that momentum into tomorrow's match at Villanova."
At first singles, Katrina Elder-Bush (Boston, Mass.) posted a 6-3, 6-3 win over Nova's Courtney Olsen, while at fourth singles, Caitlin Baker (Altoona, Pa.) also got a straight-set victory, defeating the Wildcats' Adriann Ginn, 7-5, 6-2.
Rutgers got wins at fifth and sixth singles from Lauren Edelschein (Medford Lakes, N.J.) and Christine Tran (Centerville, Va.). Edelschein defeated Villanova's Kelsey Darnell, 7-6 (3), 6-4, and Tran recorded a 6-3, 6-2 win over Briana Kearney.
The Scarlet Knights will travel to Philadelphia, Pa. on Sunday, March 25, to take on Villanova at
