Baseball Team Receives Board of Governors Resolution

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers baseball team was recognized for its tremendous season by the University on Wednesday, receiving a resolution from the Board of Governors at the group's June 13 meeting.
Six members of the Scarlet Knights - Todd Frazier (Toms River, N.J.), Tim Querns (Cherry Hill, N.J.), Donny Callahan (Sparta, N.J.), Kevin Lillis (Fair Haven, N.J.), Jon McCue (Hillsdale, N.J.), and Jarred Jimenez (Monroe, N.J.) - joined head coach Fred Hill, assistant coach Jay Blackwell, and Director of Athletics Robert E. Mulcahy.
'The board recognized the outstanding season that Fred and his program enjoyed this spring,' Mulcahy said. 'The team showed great enthusiasm and determination all season long, reaching record-breaking heights this year. This completed a banner year for

The 2007 Scarlet Knights enjoyed many great moments, highlighted by a BIG EAST Regular Season and Tournament Title. The team finished 42-21 overall, tying for the most wins in the history of the program. The Scarlet Knights clobbered the school's single-season home run record with 63 blasts this season. The 2007 team also scored the second-most runs (474), drove in the second-most runs (425) and recorded the second-most walks (312) in school history. RU advanced to the NCAA Regionals for the first time since 2003.
Among the Scarlet Knights' other season highlights, included Hill's 900th career victory (March 17 at UCF), the debut of the new Bainton Field playing surface with a sweep of Georgetown, and several come-from-behind victories. The program had six current student-athletes and one member of its recruiting class selected in last week's Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft.
