Scarlet Knights Dominate Georgetown, 7-0

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers women's tennis team returned to BIG EAST competition Saturday with a convincing 7-0 victory over Georgetown at the RU Tennis Complex. The Scarlet Knights improve to 9-6 overall and 3-2 in league play.
"We played very strong and focused tennis today," head coach Ben Bucca said. "We came out with very strong doubles that really set the tone for the match. It's a great confidence boost for the team to have such a convincing win over a very good Georgetown team."
The Scarlet Knights claimed the doubles point by sweeping all three matches from the Hoyas. RU dropped a combined four games in the trio of matches.
Rutgers would stay hot in singles action as senior Katrina Elder-Bush (Boston, Mass.) breezed pass Courtney Olsen 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 1 spot. Polina Zaretser (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Katherine Arlak (Leonia, N.J.),and Caitlin Baker (Altoona, Pa.) also picked up straight set wins for the Scarlet Knights.
Freshman Amy Zhang (Plano, Texas) pulled out a hard fought 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 win over Stephanie Cohen at No. 2 singles and sophomore Christine Tran (Centreville, Va.) rounded out singles play with a come from behind victory at the No. 6 position. Tran dropped the first set, 5-7 before battling back to capture the second set, 6-3. The sophomore completed the RU sweep by taking the third set tiebreaker, 10-3.
The Scarlet Knights will take on Pittsburgh Sunday at the RU Tennis Complex. The match is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
