PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Nov. 30, 2009) – Rutgers tennis head coach Benjamin Bucca has been named the Eastern Regional United States Tennis Association/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Campus Recreation Award winner for 2009, the organizations announced Monday.
“I am thrilled and honored to be recognized by my peers,” said Bucca. “Part of our responsibility as college coaches is to promote tennis on campus and in the community. We have a vibrant tennis community at Rutgers.”
The accolade honors an ITA coach who has done an outstanding job implementing the USTA’s Tennis on Campus program or similar recreational tennis programs in an effort to grow tennis participation within the campus community. The organizations recognized eight coaches, including one national winner - Christine Davis of Smith College in Massachusetts.
Entering his seventh season at Rutgers, Bucca is a member of the USTA National Tennis on Campus committee. The organization serves to promote nationwide tennis programming on campus. Bucca also was initially involved with the growth of the RU club tennis program.
