
Rutgers Men's Soccer Falls to Cincinnati, 2-0

Cincinnati, Ohio (Oct. 2, 2010) –The Rutgers men’s soccer team (3-4-1, 0-2) lost to Cincinnati (4-2-3, 2-0) Saturday night by a score of 2-0 at Gettler Stadium. The Scarlet Knights tallied nine shots on the night, but were unable to find the back of the net.
Cincinnati opened the scoring in the 34thminute as Alex Hadley stole the ball and sent it into the upper left corner of the net, off Adam Klink’s (Chesapeake, Va.) outstretched hands.
The Bearcats tallied another score in the 67thminute, as Nick Weightman played the ball to Sam Klosterman on the right sideline. Klosterman booted it into the box for Tristan Watson who sent it into the top right corner of the net.
The Scarlet Knights attacked the net early, taking three shots in the first 11 minutes. Senior Chris Edwards (West Orange, N.J.) had a shot blocked in the fifth minute and followed it up with another that was saved by the UC netminder.
RU earned another opportunity in the 31stminute, as senior Paulie Calafiore (Howell, N.J.) sent a corner kick into the box. Redshirt junior Andrew Cuevas (Wayne, N.J.) booted towards the net, but UC goalkeeper Matt Williams was there for the grab.
Rutgers never gave up, getting a corner kick opportunity in the 87thminute. Calafiore sent the kick into freshman Todd Webb (Toms River, N.J.), who headed it towards the net but Williams made the save.
The Scarlet Knights return to New Jersey for a Tuesday match-up against NJIT in Newark. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
