PISCATAWAY, N.J. (December 22, 2010) -The Rutgers baseball program will hold its Infielders Clinic on Jan. 16, 2010, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and Jan. 23 from11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. each Sunday afternoon.
With the expert instruction from the Rutgers baseball staff and players, the extensive clinic will emphasize all aspects of infield play and help make each person the best defensive player they can be. The clinic is geared towards the serious high school infielder looking to advance to the next level, and offers a great way to get a head start on the 2011 season.
Each player will go through numerous drills and informational stations aimed to develop their personal skill, regardless of which infield position they play. Proper mechanics will be demonstrated, strategy will be discussed, and numerous repetitions will be practiced. Upon the completion of the clinic, each player will receive an informational packet, detailing the fundamentals of defensive play including drills, the mental approach, and philosophies exhibited in the clinic.
The clinic will take place inside the Indoor Practice and Conditioning Facility, commonly referred to as "the Bubble." It is the region's largest air-supported indoor structure, and is the winter home to the Scarlet Knight Baseball Team. The clinic includes 20 drills specifically geared to improving an individual's fielding skills as taught by some of the best baseball minds in the area.
Each clinic is open to players currently at the high school level, grades 9-12, and will include individual instruction along with advice from the veteran coaching staff and current players at Rutgers, led by Head Coach Fred Hill and former First Team All-American shortstop and Kansas City Royals farmhand Darren Fenster, along with former Rutgers All-American and Atlanta Braves farmhand Glen Gardner.
Enrollment is $195 and space is limited to ensure lower player to coach ratio. For more information, or to register for the clinic, please click on the link to the flier and registration form below.
