
Rutgers Tennis Announces 2010-11 Schedule

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Aug. 20, 2010) – The Rutgers tennis team released its 2010-11 schedule, head coach Ben Bucca announced Friday.
RU begins the fall season at home with Long Island University on Thursday, Sept. 16 at 1 p.m. The Scarlet Knights travel to Rhode Island the following weekend for the Brown Invitational Sept. 24-26.
Rutgers will open October with the USTA Invitational in New York City. The Scarlet Knights return to the Big Apple to take on Columbia Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. The squad will wrap up its fall season with the ITA Regional Oct. 21-25.
The spring season opens with an intrastate rivalry against Ivy League foe Princeton on Jan. 26 at 10 a.m. The Scarlet Knights open February on the road with back-to-back matches at Lehigh (Feb. 3) and Army (Feb. 5).
Rutgers opens its home slate with Fairleigh Dickinson University on Feb. 11 at 1 p.m. The squad will then take on Columbia for a second time, Feb. 12 at 1 p.m. RU returns to the RU Tennis Complex to face Buffalo Feb. 18 at 1 p.m.
BIG EAST play opens on Feb. 26, as Rutgers will face Louisville on the road before stepping out of conference action to take on Xavier (Feb. 27). Marquette will visit the RU Tennis Complex on March 6 at 9 a.m.
The Scarlet Knights will spend their spring break in The Big Easy, taking on New Orleans (March 13), Southeastern Louisiana (March 15) and Xavier (March 16).
Continuing BIG EAST play, Rutgers travels to St. John’s on March 25 before hosting two-consecutive games against Syracuse (March 27) and Seton Hall (March 29).
April opens with Pittsburgh and West Virginia (both played at West Virginia) on April 2-3. The following weekend, RU continues in league action with Georgetown and Villanova on the road at noon. Regular season play ends with a home match against Connecticut on April 13 at 2 p.m.
The BIG EAST Championship will be held April 28-May 1 at Notre Dame.
The Scarlet Knights finished the 2010 season with a 14-8 record and tied for fifth at the BIG EAST Championship. RU returns six student-athletes from last season, including two-time All-BIG EAST honoree Amy Zhang (Plano, Texas).
