
Rutgers Field Hockey Drops Season Opener

HARRISONBURG, Va. (August 27, 2010) – Rutgers field hockey fell at No. 12 James Madison, 6-0, on Friday evening at the JMU Field Hockey Complex. The contest was the season opener for both teams.
The Scarlet Knights (0-1) recorded just one shot on goal – in the 53rd minute – by sophomore Carlie Rouh (Berlin, N.J.). The Dukes (1-0) outshot the visitors, 13-1.
Sophomore goalkeeper Vickie Lavell (Haddon Township, N.J.) faced 10 shots, stopping four on the night.
JMU jumped on the board early, scoring its first goal just over six minutes into the game. They moved ahead 2-0 in the 15th minute and went ahead, 3-nothing after a penalty corner goal was tipped in from the left post nine minutes before the break.
Rutgers is back in action on Sunday, August 29 facing William & Mary at 11: 30 a.m. at the JMU Field Hockey Complex.
