
Rutgers Field Hockey Receives NFHCA Team Academic Award

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Feb. 24, 2011) – The Rutgers University field hockey team has been recognized for its outstanding academic achievement as the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced that the Scarlet Knights have earned a 2010 Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award.
“We are proud of our players for being recognized for their efforts in the classroom by receiving the NFHCA National Academic Team Award,” said head coach Liz Tchou. “It’s a testament of their investment to their futures and to their commitment of being student-athletes.”
The NFHCA National Academic Team Award honors field hockey teams at the high school and college level that are successful in the classroom. Nominees include high school or college teams that have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher.
The 2011 Scarlet Knights will return 18 letterwinners and 10 starters, including their leading goal scorer and point getter, from a squad that advanced to the BIG EAST Tournament for the first time since 2003.
