Frazier Finishes Third in NL Rookie of the Year Voting

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Nov. 12, 2012) - Former Rutgers baseball star Todd Frazier finished third in Major League Baseball's National League Rookie of the Year voting. The third-baseman received three first place votes, seven second place votes and nine third place votes while totaling 45 points. Washington outfielder Bryce Harper took the crown with 112 points, followed by Arizona pitcher Wade Miley with 105.
Frazier helped the Reds to the NL Division Series in the playoffs before falling to the San Francisco Giants in five games.
Frazier had a breakout year in his first full season in "The Show." His .273 regular-season average was tied for third among NL rookies who had more than 400 plate appearances in 2012. He was third among NL rookies with 19 home runs and second with 67 RBIs. Frazier had a slugging percentage of .498, ranking fifth among all rookies and second among NL newcomers.
Frazier's name covers the Rutgers record books, ranking first in single season runs (87), career runs (210), single-season home runs (22), career home runs (42), single-season total bases (187) and is tied for first in single-season doubles (24).
Harper hit .270 for the Nationals, driving in 59 runs to go along with 22 home runs, 98 runs scored and 18 stolen bases. Miley notched a 16-11 record for the Diamondbacks, the most wins of any NL rookie, while compiling a 3.33 ERA in 194.2 innings pitched.
