Rutgers Baseball's Fasano Signs With Brewers

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (July 3, 2012) – Former Rutgers standout right-hander Ryan Fasano (Stony Point, N.Y.) signed as a free agent with the Milwaukee Brewers on June 24. Starting 14 games and appearing in 16 games for the Scarlet Knights in 2012, Fasano compiled a team-best ERA of 3.34 through 97.0 innings of work.
As a senior, Fasano recorded 59 strikeouts and tossed three complete games to lead RU. In eight BIG EAST starts, the Second Team NJCBA All-State pitcher notched five conference wins and helped the team to its 11th BIG EAST Championships appearance in program history. He walked just 17 batters and had a .257 batting average against. He was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on April 16.
The signing marked the 68th time a Rutgers baseball player has been picked up or drafted by a Major League Baseball team during Fred Hill’s 29-year tenure and the 76th RU player taken overall. Fasano joins former teammate and 2012 BIG EAST Player of the Year Patrick Kivlehan in the pros, who was drafted 131st overall by the Seattle Mariners in the 2012 MLB Draft. Fasano is the first Rutgers player to go to the Brewers organization since Jason Imperial in 1991.
The Stony Point, N.Y., native was assigned to the AZL Brewers, a part of the Rookie Arizona League. He has made two appearances as of July 3, tallying 1.0 innings pitched. Fasano has recorded one strikeout and has not given up a hit.
