
Rutgers Tennis Set to Participate in USTA Invitational

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (October 10, 2013) - The Rutgers tennis team will participate in its second competition of the fall season beginning Friday, Oct. 11 at the United States Tennis Association Invitational. The three-day tournament will take place at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.
Twenty teams from within the region and other parts of the country are set to compete in the invitational at the site of the U.S. Open.
The Scarlet Knights return to action following a two-week break. RU opened the fall season on Sept. 20 at the Brown Invitational in which several noteworthy performances were recorded over the three-day invite. Junior Lindsay Balsamo (Wall, N.J.) and freshman Farris Cunningham (Houston, Texas) advanced to the main draw finals match in singles play, while the tandem of Balsamo and Mariam Zein (Sugarland, Texas) fell in the finals of the Eagles Double Flight.
