
Rutgers Tennis Drops 6-1 Decision to Barry

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (March 17, 2013) - In its first match of the spring break trip, the Rutgers women's tennis team fell to Barry University, 6-1, at the Buccaneer Tennis Center in Miami Shores, Fla., Sunday.
The match consisted of one doubles competition worth two points and five singles contests worth one point each.
The Scarlet Knights fell to 7-5 (3-1 BIG EAST) on the season, while Barry University improved to 16-0. The Buccaneers are ranked No. 4 in Division II.
Junior Vanessa Petrini (Stamford, Conn.) picked up Rutgers' point in No. 1 singles play, downing Elisabeth Abanda of Barry (6-4, 6-3). Petrini improved to 7-5 on the season, putting her third on the squad in wins.
Rutgers next takes on Nova Southeastern, ranked No. 17 in Division II, tomorrow, March 18, in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., at 1 p.m.
