Roe Signs Professional Baseball Contract

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (July 17, 2013) - Former Rutgers baseball pitcher Nathaniel Roe (Plainfield, N.J.) signed a professional baseball contract with the Rockland Boulders of the Can-Am League Wednesday. The right-hander successfully overcame Tommy John surgery to tie for the team lead in appearances as a senior in 2013.
"I'm extremely excited for the opportunity to play professional baseball," Roe said. "It's an awesome feeling knowing that all the hard work is paying off. I'm very blessed and can't wait to continue to get better and start my professional career."
Roe made 61 career appearances over three seasons for the Scarlet Knights, including 24 in relief this year. Picking up five saves, the right-hander's most memorable moment came in the BIG EAST Championships when he entered with the tying run on second with one out in the ninth of an elimination game and picked up a strikeout and groundout to advance Rutgers to the semifinals. The Rockland Boulders are based in Pomona, N.Y., and compete in the Can-Am League. The league includes franchises from New Jersey, New York and Canada, also playing games against members of the American Association. Click here for more information.
Roe becomes the second player from the 2013 roster to sign a professional contract, joining Rob Smorol.
