Todd Frazier
Since playing for Rutgers in 2007, Frazier has been quite successful in the professional ranks. Despite being drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 2004 amateur draft, Frazier chose to wait until 2007 to begin his career in the pros. Drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the first round, Frazier played in the minors for four years. In 2007, he was named a Baseball America Rookie All-Star. In 2008, he was named Florida State League Player of the Week twice, as well as a Baseball America High Class A All-Star. In 2009, Frazier was named a Southern League All Star in the mid-season as well as the post-season. Frazier was called up to Major League Baseball to play for the Cincinnati Reds in 2011, after being listed as the ninth-best prospect in Major League Baseball. During his first year on the Reds, Frazier was named a NL Rookie of the Month, as well as the MLB Players’ Choice NL Outstanding Rookie. He has hit 15 homers this season as a third baseman.

David DeJesus
DeJesus was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 2000 Amateur Draft. In 2003, he was called up to the majors where he played for the Royals until 2010. In 2004, DeJesus was named Kansas City Royals Player of the Year, and in 2005, he was awarded Player of the Week. In November of 2010, DeJesus was traded to the Oakland A’s. The following year he signed as a free agent to the Chicago Cubs. In August 2013, DeJesus was traded to the Washington Nationals where he played only four games before being traded to the Tampa Bay Rays.

MINOR LEAGUES

Patrick Kivlehan
Kivlehan initially came to Rutgers University to play football. However, after four years of football, he decided to return to his former passion, baseball. During his one year of playing baseball for the Scarlet Knights, Kivlehan was named BIG EAST Conference Player of the Year 2012, and made history by being the first player in the Big East to win the Triple Crown (.402, 10 home runs, 36 RBIs). Kivlehan was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the fourth round of the 2012 Draft. That season, he was named the Northwest League’s MVP. In the 2013 season, Kivlehan was called up to the Single-A High Desert Mavericks where he had a 25 game hitting streak at the end of the season.

Jayson Hernandez
Hernandez was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 41^st round of the 2010 MLB June . He began his professional career playing for the Lowell Spinners. In 2011, he was called up to Greenville. Hernandez spent the 2012 seasons playing for Salem and Portland. He has currently returned to Greenville where he is proving a defensive asset as catcher. Hernandez also received recognition for his charity work for victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Rob Smorol
Smorol, a 2013 Rutgers graduate and left-handed pitcher, was signed by the Boston Red Sox in July 2013. While playing for the Gulf Coast League, Smorol held a 1-0 record with 14 strikeouts, 12 hits and seven runs. After his success with the Gulf Coast League, Smorol was called up to Class-A Greenville to end the year.

Michael Lang
After graduating from Rutgers in 2011, Lang played professional baseball for the Yakima Bears of the Northwest League. He was sent to the Souix City Explorers for the 2012 season. In June 2012, after being nominated for American Association Rookie of the Year and named American Association Batter of the Week, Lang signed with the minor league Arizona Diamondbacks. He currently holds a .263 batting average for the Diamondbacks with 25 extra base hits.

Jason Bergmann
In June 2002, Bergmann was drafted by the Montreal Expos in the 11th round of the 2002 Amateur Draft. Bergmann spent the next three years playing for several different minor league teams including Savannah, Brevard County and Harrisburg. In 2005, he was called up to the Major League Baseball to play for the Washington Nationals. He remained with the Nationals until 2010. Since 2010, Bergmann has returned to playing Minor League Baseball for the affiliate teams of the Boston Red Sox, Oakland Athletics and Colorado Rockies. Most recently, his contract has been purchased by the Kansas City Royals, where he played for their minor league team, the Arkansas Naturals.

Ryan Fasano
In June 2012, free agent Fasano signed with the Milwaukee Brewers of the Arizona League. He played for the AZL Brewers, and for the second part of the 2012 season, he played for Helena. He succeeded in making an impression with his 30 hits, 12 runs, and 23.2 innings pitched. In August, 2013, Fasano was called up to the Class A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Since his advancement, Fasano has continued to succeed.
