(Oct. 19, 2014) - Juniors Mariam Zein (Sugarland, Texas) and Gina Li (Hillsborough, N.J.) of the Rutgers women's tennis team have advanced to the semifinals of the doubles draw at the ITA Northeast Regional Championship at Yale University. The duo topped two seeded teams to stay alive in the tournament.
"It is a fantastic accomplishment for Mariam and Gina, and for the program," said head coach Ben Bucca. "They have emerged as one of the leading doubles teams on our squad. It was incredibly exciting to witness the success in very intense matches. Overall, the team has played well and I look forward to more victories to come."
In the first round of doubles play, Zein and Li knocked off seniors Carolina Zanotta and freshman Ines Vujokovac of NJIT, 8-5.
