PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Oct. 28, 2014) - Rutgers baseball held its inaugural golf outing on Oct. 17 at Knob Hill Golf Club in Manalapan, N.J. Over 60 golfers comprised of baseball alumni, donors and friends participated in the event.
"It was a special day," head coach Joe Litterio said. "It was great to get the alumni back together and have them reconnect all the friendships."
The outing featured a first and second place threesome as well as a closest to the pin and longest drive champion. Finishing second with a score of nine-under par were 1994 graduates Scott Simpson and Dan McCoy and 1995 graduate Mike Lukacs. 1998 graduates Dave Marciniak and Rich Kennedy, along with 2001 graduate Jeff Marciniak took home first place with a score of 12-under par.
Former Rutgers pitcher Gary Geraghty, who graduated in 1988, was the winner of the closest to the pin challenge and former infielder Dave Marciniak, along with winning the tournament recorded the longest drive of the day.
"I want to thank Lisa Carone, Mike Melendez and Maggie Long for their hard work making it a successful day," Litterio said. "I also want to thank Knob Hill for putting on a great event."
The program hopes to build on the success of this years outing by making this an annual event.
